During the rainy season, many people easily get sick because of the weather change. But there is still another disease that we should be aware of is “leptospirosis”. People might get bacterial infection in flooded areas, that contaminated with bacteria found in urine of carriers such as rats (including dogs, pigs, and horses). This bacterium can enter the body through cuts, scratches and wading through or immersing in flooded areas for long periods of time.

The key symptoms of leptospirosis are severe muscle or joint aches, high fever, chills, headache, or nausea and vomiting, which in some cases may have severe symptoms and cause of life-threatening complications.

Primary preventing yourself from leptospirosis by immediately cleaning hands and feet after exposed to flooding. However, keeping your home or office building free from the cause of diseases such as rodents is another important factor that will help reduce the risk of infection as well.
